Bristol Sports Bar Revs Up To Go HOG Wild With Iron Maidens

BRISTOL, Conn. City Sports Grille in Bristol, Conn., is saddling up with the Iron Maidens & The Band of Brothers MS Motorcycle Ride team to host the first Iron Maidens’ HOG Wild Pig Roast Saturday, May 17. The event will benefit the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter 2008 MS Motorcycle Ride and the more than 6,000 Connecticut residents battling the unpredictable effects of multiple sclerosis (MS).

Group Ride - Color"My grandmother suffered the debilitating effects of this baffling disease," said Karen Butler, Iron Maidens team captain and vice president of communications at the Connecticut Chapter.

"Since joining the chapter in 2005, I have come to know so many others who have been robbed of mobility and independence while still in the prime of life. Our team members and supporters want to do what we can to help fund scientific research to find better treatments and ultimately a cure."

The benefit event will feature a pig roast with the all the "fixins," two kegs of Miller Lite, courtesy of Rogo Distributors, a motorcycle contest, live bands and acoustic rock originals by Sean Rivers Music (www.myspace.com/threeriversmusic). The roast will also feature a 50/50 drawing, give-a-ways, drawings for prizes and much more.

Iron Maidens"We are very pleased to be teaming up with the Iron Maidens to host what’s sure to be a rockin’ evening for a good cause," said Pam Souza, manager of City Sports Grille. "We will be offering Iron Maiden-inspired shot specials that night the Iron Maiden Double Bubble Blue Burst for $4 and the Band of Brothers Bikers Bomb for $5. We encourage everyone to come out and support the fight against multiple sclerosis."

The Iron Maidens & The Band of Brothers was named top fundraising team in the 2007 MS Motorcycle Ride. The team recruited more than 15 bikers and raised more than $3,000.

"The Iron Maidens is on a quest to double the number of team members and more than triple the amount raised by the team last year," said Butler, who rides a 2006 Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob. "Bikers are generous and always ready to support worthy causes. Bikers now have an opportunity to unite tires to pavement and hearts to a worthy cause resulting in an adventure-laden destination to a cure."

Last year’s benefit ride attracted more than 1,200 bikers and raised more than $42,000. The 2008 MS Motorcycle Ride will start and finish this year at Cadillac Ranch in Southington, Conn., Sunday, July 20. Details can be found at www.ctfightsMS.org.

The Iron Maidens’ HOG Wild Pig Roast and Miller Lite tasting will be held at Spare Time/City Sports Grille, located at 177 Farmington Ave., in Bristol, Conn., Saturday, May 17, from 5 to 11 p.m. Pig and beer is $25. Beer only is $15. In the case of rain, the event will be held on Saturday, May 31.
