Tee Off at the 2007 MS Golf Classic "Fore" A Cure

STONINGTON, Conn. The third annual MS Golf Classic will be held at the Lake of Isles in North Stonington, Conn., on Friday, Sept. 28. The third annual event is presented by Dominion and hosted by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Connecticut Chapter.

Chaired by Jack O'Dea, Strategic World Wide, LLC, and Mark Powers, of Levin, Powers, Brennan, & Shea, the classic will include a day of scramble-style golf on a Rees Jones-designed course. The classic will be followed by a cocktail reception, dinner and an auction which will include the chance for a foursome to play at Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. Gerry Cooney, former heavyweight contender, and Rod Gilbert, former right wing for the New York Rangers, will also attend the MS Golf Classic.

"We are very pleased to host the MS Golf Classic for a third year," said Jack O'Dea, planning committee co-chair. "We thank our committee members, volunteers and every golfer hitting the links for a single cause to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis."

More than 6,000 Connecticut residents battle the effects of MS. Symptoms can include tingling and numbness in the extremities, fatigue, changes in vision, imbalance, pain, speech impairment, and, in some cases, paralysis. There is currently no cure for MS, however, funds raised through chapter events, such as the MS Golf Classic, ensure ongoing scientific research to find a cure and the continuation of vital programs and services offered by the chapter to those diagnosed with MS.
